I am participating in Five Minute Friday with Kate Motaung and her crew of writers. You should join us!
5 minutes to write about one word. Unedited….
In the middle of the night, I find myself waking up around 3am. It is so quiet in our house. My mind instantly starts thinking about all of the things on my “to do” list. I am a “worrier” by nature. I care about everyone and want my crew to be happy. Sometimes my mind could go one for hours before I finally get back to sleep.
I need my sleep, you guys! This 3am worrying thing is not working for me.
I started this calming technique that has really helped me. I wanted to pass the idea along to you.
Deep breathing is so important. I start there.
Then I think about all of the “things” that are bothering me and I literally give each thing to God. In my head, I take off my back pack full of worries, I set my bag full of concerns and cares on the floor. I take off my shoes, and relax. God can take all of that for me. He really does. It is a nice warm, comforting feeling, to let all of that stuff go.
