Our 13 yr old daughter, Korby is a known tomboy. In fact, at least a few times a week someone comments on “my boys”. It is kind of amusing when I tell them the smaller one is a girl. She has played the drums since she was about 5. She is an awesome drummer. We are very proud of her. Last year for my birthday she surprised me by learning one of my favorite songs on the drums. It was awesome!
Ever since we started this business, I have asked Korby if she wants a necklace. Her response is always “No Mom, your jewelry is nice, but not for me.” I am absolutely ok with that. We have raised our daughter Korby to be her own person. We accept both of our kids for who they are & make it a point to try not to change them.
This week we have been busy making jewelry & I had Korby helping out sorting through charms. She ran across the little drum charm that you see in this picture. She made the comment how she really liked it a lot. Next thing I know, Korby is over in the dictionaries looking up words. I tried hard to ignore her, even though I was freaking out inside that my girl, possibly wanted one of our necklaces. This is exciting stuff, right?
So,she carefully picked out the word drummer. Decided that she loved the words around drummer & asked if she could have a square pendant. I am surprised she didn’t laugh at the the fact that I was smiling so big. I wanted to do a little “my daughter wants a kraftykash necklace” dance. But I contained myself, carefully cut out the word drummer, and had her take it to her Dad to make for her.
The necklace is now ready. I think it turned out fabulous. The big question is, will our daughter Korby really wear it?
My husband thinks she will wear it one time. I think she will love it. What do you think?

She will wear it and my guess is more than once. She needed to have one speak to her, before she made the move & that’s totally fine! There wasn’t any pressure to wear it and still isn’t. That means she’ll wear it!
Thanks, Nancy! I am thrilled that she is wearing it.
I think it’s something special that she will treasure forever ,I really loved reading about it .
